Urgent for K-W Residents: Support the Unborn Victims of Crime Act

Bill C-484, the Unborn Victims of Crime Act has passed second reading, but only by a small margin. Therefore its passage in 3rd reading is not guaranteed. Two of our local M.P.'s, Karen Redman and Andrew Telegdi, voted against this compassionate legislation.

This bill would allow criminal charges to be laid in the death or injury of an unborn child when the child's mother is the victim of a crime.

Note that this legislation specifically exempts voluntary abortion or any act by the mother. It also only holds the perpetrator responsible when the offender knows or ought to know [the mother] is pregnant. Click here for the full text of the bill. This legislation should be obvious and uncontroversial, but politics are getting in the way.

Please take a moment to contact your M.P. and simply tell them "I want you to vote FOR bill C-484 on 3rd reading".

Take action now in one of the following two ways:

  • Simply sign the petition below and press <SEND>. An automatic email will be sent to Karen Redman (MP for Kitchener Centre) and Andrew Telegdi (MP for Kitchener Waterloo) from your email address. Note: DTMF will never sell or share your contact information.

Dear Member of Parliament,

I urge you to vote in favour of the Unborn Victims of Crime Act. It is a grave injustice to tell grieving families that the child they loved and lost never even existed in the eyes of the law.
